Presentation of 2000 tourism businesses
The Tourism Portal www.e-kyklades.gr is the largest and most recognizable in the Prefecture of Cyclades. The Portal not only provides the visitor with general information about the islands of Cyclades, but also presents 2000 tourism businesses – members of the Chamber of Cyclades- through “their own” mini- site, where they present their services and products.
In this way, you can ensure a pleasant and comfortable stay in large hotels and traditional guesthouses. Luxury restaurants, authentic taverns and fish restaurants promise you unique culinary experiences. Look also for entertainment businesses (cafes, bars, and clubs), local products and sports activities.
Virtual search and browsing
The Chamber of Cyclades, using its experience in modern digital services has developed a new GIS service, in order to promote each island’s tourism businesses. The new service combines the technology of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with the satellite imaging (Google Maps) of the islands, enabling imprinting of the businesses on the map, full and visitor-friendly navigation as well as direct communication with each company. In particular, the visitor can easily search per island, area and type of business, according to his needs (for instance, available rooms to let in Koufonisia).
This site runs as a simple page (HTML), where the application of Google Maps has been embodied. Separate icons (markers) represent the island’s businesses or a specific region’s businesses (on the island).
Each marker represents the exact point of the business and its contact details. Clicking on the name of the business, the visitor is transferred to a detailed presentation site of the business (mini website).
