YPSELI
The common name for hive as used by inhabitants of the Aegean Sea. The name of a tiny creation that symbolizes the progress, effort, cooperation, coordination and production of an invaluable nutritious ingredient, which is also one of nature’s sweetest flavors.
The long held tradition of beekeeping amongst the islands of the eastern Mediterranean retains some well-hidden treasures. Hives carved out of stone, but also ceramic hives created by the islanders to house the invaluable bees, can be found scattered throughout the islands inlands and have long been a symbol of our unique culture.
We decided to revive this word and just as the precious Anafian honey contains the richness of the fragrant island flowers together with the seas aura, so do our accommodations contain the condensed flavor of the island. A flavor that one discovers when opening a hive, a flavor that is grounded to Anafi and which can be rightfully called… Anafi’s Hive!
