ACCOMMODATION
Villa Maria consistis of the following apartments:
- Iris (8 persons) is a five-bedroom apartment and occupies the whole of the first floor of the villa. The street door leads into a small hallway and then up a flight of steps to the magnificent living area. The ceilings are high and wood-panelled, the windows have louvred shutters and the floors are of wood or marble. The furniture is antique and the decor old-world but with modern taste and comfort.
- Narkissos (2 persons) has a king-size bed, three big windows with views over the port and the town, and an ensuite bathroom with shower. It also has a balcony with two chairs and a small table.
- Yakinthos (2 persons) has a queen-size bed, two big windows with views over the port and the town, and an ensuite bathroom with shower. It also has a balcony with two chairs and a small table.
- Daphne (2 to 4 persons) is a studio with a spacious sleeping gallery with a double bed and two single mattresses. Underneath it is a sitting room with two windows facing the courtyard and the steps, and a bathroom with shower.
- Evie (2 persons) is the ground floor of a neoclassical historical mansion, recently fully restored, sleeps 2 in a double bed. The house has beautiful tadelact floors, wooden ceilings, tadelact bathroom, stone walls and arches, antique furniture. There are two adjoining separate spaces. A huge gourmet fully equipped kitchen, which, during our retreats, is used for our guests’ catering, and a second space where there is a lovely dining room secluded by stone arches, a living room space with build-in sofas, and a cosy build-in double bed. At the back of the house there is also a lovely patio shaded with plants, with comfortable dining and sitting spaces, to be shared among all guests of the mansion. At the roof of the house there is a wonderful terrace with panoramic views over the town, the port and the sea, perfect for an evening drink.
- Amaryllis (4 to 5 persons) is an independent house behind Villa Maria, separated from the main house by the courtyard. It has a double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, a twin bedroom, a sitting/dining room with a sofa which can sleep one extra person, a fully-equipped kitchen and a second bathroom with shower. It also has a small sitting area outside the living room, and a roof terrace with sea views.
It is also possible, depending on availability, to rent the all the houses as one, with a total capacity of about 20 persons. Please contact us, if this is of interest to you.
Villa Maria offers self-catering accommodation. You will find cooking essentials in the kitchen: tea, coffee, oil and condiments. Beach towels, and fresh linen for longer stays, are provided on request. There is a washing machine available for your use.
VILLA MARIA
Villa Maria is a listed 19th century neo-classical mansion. Built by a local factory owner in 1873 at the height of Ermoupolis’ prosperity, it is a fine example of the architecture of the period. In restoring it we have preserved all the original features-wooden floors and ceilings, marble bathrooms, decorative mouldings-and used antique furniture to give it a comfortable but authentic feel.
The second floor balconies and the roof terrace have panoramic views over the town, the port and across to the neighbouring islands. Behind the villa is a courtyard with plants, built-in seating and a shaded dining area.
The villa is on a pedestrian street right in the middle of town, yet a haven of peace and quiet. It is 2 minutes walk from the main square and market, and 5 minutes walk from the Vaporia. This is the town’s ‘Little Venice’, a lido with cafes and crystal-clear water for swimming.
The villa has 2 apartments and 3 studios that can be rented separately or in any combination.
