Sifnos is an invaluable island of the Cyclades. It is the island of poetry, literature, pleasure and pottery! An art that is lost in depths of centuries. In Sifnos they began to work the clay from then that became the island. The name Sifnios became synonym with tsikalas or tsoykalas.

Such is also Ioannis Lempesis that was given birth in the Artemona of Sifnos in 1951 and learned from small the art of pottery in the Hersonisos. In the pottery of his father Manolis Lempesi (Manolesou) that was craftsman with the name in the isolated then harbour of Herosonisos. For a lot of years Yannis Lempesis worked also in the Hersonisos. In the patrimonial laboratory with the moving foot wheel and the furnace with woods. Professionally began in the 16-17 years old and undertook the enterprise.

In 1984 he transferred the laboratory from the Hersoniso in Saint Anna Artemonas maintaining the old techniques. The clay him made still by himself and the types of pottery him cooked still with wood furnace. In this laboratory it began to deal in age of 14 years and his son Nikos Lempesis that with teacher his father initiate the art of clay and after few years entered regularly in the familial enterprise helping and increasing the Production.

In 2004 they established  Company N & I Lempesis aiming at the manufacture and marketing of pottery types with seat in the region Valanies in the Apollonia.

Their work has been presented in Switzerland, in the Pan-Hellenic Report of Ceramics in the Marousi, acquiring ‘praises’ for their work in reports of figurative artists and potters in the Fyrogia and in the 1st Report of association of potters Sifnos.
