LOCATION
The sheltered cove of Vathi, at the south-west, home to one of the island's oldest pottery centers, is a place where lilies grow on sand, and where some of the island's most celebrated tavernas are to be found. The sandy beach of Vathi is 1400 meters long and offers a perfect escape for those seeking a relaxed holiday by the sea.
SIFNOS ISLAND
The blinding white of traditional Cycladic architecture, the paved courtyards and gardens bursting with color, the scenic paths and pottery workshops - Sifnos is famous for its tradition at pottery - the ancient sites and the sandy beaches and, last but not least, a delicious cuisine are only some of the attractions of this beautiful island.
The capital of the island, since 1836, and its commercial and administrative centre, is Appolonia, also called Stavri. There you can find most of the island's shops, banks, pharmacies, and the medical center. "To Steno", the central pedestrian street, well-known for its vibrant night-life, is also in Appolonia. Sifnos is an island that offers both a totally relaxing ambiance and a colourful nightlife.
HOW TO GET THERE
Sifnos is connected to Piraeus (Athens central Port) by boat. You can either take the regular ferry that takes five and a half hours or a high speed ferry that takes 3 hours to reach Kamares, the island's port. There are also ferry or high speed ferry connections with the islands of Serifos, Milos, Paros, Kimolos, Santorini (airport) and Folegandros, all reachable within 1- 2 hours.
