Dimitra K. Vichos company bakery is the continuation and development of a long bakery history. Founded in 1954 by my grandfather Spyros Markantoni, Pollonia Milos.
The oven was famous for the loaves, but also barley and sitarenia nuts (in rolls and breadsticks). The amounts coming out of the oven was probably not large comparing with today's standards, but always remember to tell the tail was from early morning to the warm fragrant fresh loaf. Especially in the summer for those who were leaving in August for Athens, orders were given for the nuts early as there was a limited production and priority compliance orders always applied.
In 1985 the furnace went to my parents, Takis and Maria Vichos, named Maria K. Vichos. In their hands the furnace was renewed, built new plants in order to have greater productive capacity and slowly added many new products, sweet and savory pastries, scones and biscuits and many more goodies! They kept and strengthened the reputation of the oven as really loved what they did.
In late 2012 I was my turn to take over our family business under the name Ceres Mr. Vichos. Focused more on buns that is my great love, I continue our traditional products such as sitarenia and barley rusks and sweet and savory voutimata.Panta persistently and with great taste now and I add my own touches to list of products us as the new cookies with cranberries & pistachios!
